FROM RUINS

TO RICHES

The Scottish Wemyss family have had a longstanding passion for malt whisky and their connections with the industry date back to the turn of the 19th century when John Haig (founder of Haig's) built his first distillery on Wemyss land.

The story of Kingsbarns Single Malt Scotch Whisky begins with the conversion of a historic and semi-derelict farm steading into a distillery.

Built around 1800 as part of East Newhall Farm by Thomas Erskine, the ninth Earl of Kellie, this charming Georgian farm steading once served Cambo House and the estate.

Building work at the Distillery began with the preservation of the historic Dutch pan tile roof and 18th century stonework, followed by initial land preparation. The 'Topping out' ceremony took place in June of 2014, paving the way for the interior work to commence. Once this was complete with Stills moved in, water acquifer constructed and local barley acquired, Kingsbarns Distillery started to distil what was to become an award winning Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

The Distillery is now in full flow and has produced some charming, mysterious and stimulating single malts.
